Partner Spotlight — New in the UK

Feather-light
concrete

Concrete is the last material you would expect to see floating above a dining table. That is exactly what makes Sowa Stone remarkable.

Founded in Latvia by a craftsman who has spent fifteen years perfecting his material, Sowa Stone has developed its own lightweight concrete — one that keeps everything people love about the real thing, its texture, depth, and durability, while shedding almost all of the weight. Shades are cast with walls just a few millimetres thick, so a half-metre pendant weighs only a few kilograms and can hang from slender, almost invisible cables.

Every piece is formed and finished by hand in the studio, and no two are identical. Subtle variations in surface and tone are part of the character, not a flaw.

For designers and specifiers, that opens up genuinely new possibilities. The honesty of raw concrete can now go where it never could before — over kitchen islands and restaurant tables, in residential and hospitality schemes, as a single statement or in clusters. Shapes, sizes, and colourways can be combined to suit a scheme, and bespoke configurations are available.
