APAM's £2.25 million refurbishment of 2 Whitehall Quay brought a new level of quality to one of Leeds city centre's most recognisable commercial addresses. With TP Bennett Architects leading the design — covering the striking double-height glazed reception, communal areas, lift lobbies, and washrooms — main contractor MJM Contracting engaged Lumen Loom to interpret the lighting brief, source the specified products, and ensure everything was on site and ready to install in line with the construction programme.
Our role was fundamentally one of technical translation and supply chain management. Working directly from TP Bennett's specification, we reviewed each product requirement against what was available from our supply portfolio, matched alternatives where lead times posed a risk, and managed the procurement of Deltalight and Aqform products across the full scope of the project. For the reception and communal areas, Deltalight provided the precision architectural downlighting and ceiling-integrated fittings that the specification called for. Aqform's recessed range was deployed throughout the washrooms and secondary spaces, delivering consistent, well-controlled illumination within tightly coordinated ceiling finishes.
The most programme-critical element was the bespoke linear LED solution specified for the double-height reception ceiling — a series of continuous runs and geometric framing elements that form the centrepiece of the refurbished entrance. Custom lengths, colour temperature matching, and specific fixing details meant standard off-the-shelf product was not an option. Lumen Loom managed the manufacture and delivery of these bespoke linear components to a fixed on-site installation date, coordinating directly with the ceiling contractor to ensure the sequence was achievable. The result landed on time, within specification, and precisely as TP Bennett's drawings had intended.
